Abstract:

Different approaches are presented to simulate the near field Radar Cross Section (RCS) of a perfectly conducting electrically large object. This type of environment is usually found in measurements at large anechoic chambers where the far field condition cannot be achieved, making it impossible to approximate the incident field by a planewave. Each approach will be implemented with Physical Optics (PO) for extremely large targets and an accelerated version of the Method of Moments for moderately large objects. The fast MoM method are either the Multilevel Adaptive Cross Approximation (MLACA) for an iterative solution or the Multiscale Compressed Block Decomposition (MSCBD) for a direct solution. This development and the performed simulations have been done with CAPITOLE RCS commercial software developed by NEXIO.

Abstract: This paper presents the post-processing methodology devoted to the Near-Field-Scanning (NFS) to provide assistance in ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) design phases of complex electronics products.
A major challenge for spacecraft manufacturers for incoming year concerns the control of units Radiated Emissions (RE). Indeed, high speed links could induce RE non-compliance for units in on-board receiver frequencies (ex: GPS, TCR…). To avoid additional test campaign or system level analyses, Near Field techniques could be a powerful way to anticipate RE non-conformities in unit design phase.
Based both on NFS (only Hx and Hy magnetic components very closed to the Printed Circuit Board (PCB)), and on Shielding enclosure Effectiveness (SE) characterization, the proposed “NFS2RE” (Near Field Scanning to Radiated Emission Test) methodology allows:
     1) RE-Test prediction of PCB in free space condition from only Hx and Hy NFS
     2) Prediction of Shielding PCB’s enclosure attenuation on RE-Test from SE characterization

Study of the impact of a wind farm over the radio navigation systems of an airport by using the Method of Moments (MoM) and Physical Optics (PO)12/05/2019Events

Abstract: In the quest for sustainability, wind turbines play an important role to take advantage of one of the most available sources of renewable energy. Airports are equipped with several electromagnetic devices allowing airplanes to precisely know the distance and approaching angle with respect to a radiating antenna placed at the airport facilities. The presence of wind turbines in the vicinity of an airport may alter the behavior of these systems, which would imply a wrong measurement value on the airplane. Nonetheless, numerical electromagnetic methods can provide, accurately, the impact of such environment during the design phase of the nearby wind farm. In this paper, we analyze the behavior of a couple of well-known methods for this sort of study: The Method of Moments (MoM) and the Physical Optics (PO). Due to the electrical size of the turbines at the usual working frequencies of these aeronautic systems, the number of unknowns of the corresponding linear system becomes huge. Therefore, an accelerated technique, such as the Multilevel Adaptive Cross Approximation (MLACA) or the MultiScale Compressed Block Decomposition (MSCBD), will be necessary when using the MoM.
